Sometimes a tooth cannot be saved because of severe decay, infection, fracture, or crowding. Purple Rain Dental Clinic in Akure provides careful extractions and clear aftercare so healing is as comfortable as possible.
When extraction may be needed
We extract a tooth only after examining it and discussing alternatives such as a filling, root canal, or crown. Extraction may be the better choice if the tooth is badly broken, has an unrestorable infection, or is causing other teeth to crowd.
What happens on the day
We numb the area, remove the tooth, and give you written and spoken aftercare. You will feel pressure, not sharp pain, while the anaesthetic is working. Tell us if you still feel pain so we can add more local anaesthetic.
Aftercare
Bite on gauze as directed, rest, and eat soft food on the other side. Do not rinse hard, smoke, or use a straw on the first day. Mild swelling and oozing can occur. Call us if bleeding continues, pain increases after a few days, or you have a fever.
