Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, then seals the canals. The aim is to stop pain and keep your own tooth. Purple Rain Dental Clinic in Akure offers this when decay or trauma has reached the nerve.

Symptoms that may mean you need a root canal

Severe toothache, pain that wakes you at night, lingering pain to heat, swelling, or a pimple on the gum can point to nerve infection. Some infected teeth are quiet. We confirm with examination and, when needed, an X-ray.

What happens during treatment

We numb the tooth, clean the canals, and place a filling inside them. A grossly damaged tooth is then restored with a post-retained acrylic or porcelain crown so it can take chewing force. Treatment may take more than one visit.

Pain and recovery

The procedure is done under local anaesthetic. Afterwards the tooth can feel tender for a few days. Painkillers we recommend, plus avoiding hard chewing on that side, usually help. Call us if swelling or severe pain continues.
